I made these cowboy boots for part of a baby shower gift.  I found this FREE PATTERN.

They aren't too difficult and don't take very long to make...if you don't procrastinate before the shower like me!

  2. I just started these and I'm having some trouble and was wondering if you could help!
I'm making the medium size and it says to follow the directions for the small but use a G hook

first in round 3...what does what exactly am i supposed to be doing twice?:
Rnd 3: 2 sc in next, sc in next 11 (13), (2 sc in next, sc in next) twice, (sc in next, 2 sc in next) twice, sc in next 11 (13), 2 sc in next, sc in next, sl st in first sc of rnd, ch 1, turn.

next question in round 5...what does that whole thing even mean??
Rnd 5: Working on heel of sole, center 13 sts. Working in front loops of rnd 3, with brown, join with sl st in first of 13 centered sts, sc in 11, sl st in next. Fasten off.

    I appreciate any help...thank you :)

  3. It's been awhile since I made these, but I'll do my best to help. ;)

Rnd 3 you are repeating the sections in ( ), in other words that whole section "(2 sc in next, sc in next) twice, (sc in next, 2 sc in next) twice" should be worked as:
2 sc in next. sc in next. 2 sc in next. sc in next. sc in next. 2 sc in next. sc in next. 2 sc in next.
Does that make sense? The rest of the round is worked as written, one time.

As for the Rnd 5, that is basically working in the "bottom" of the sole to create a little "heel." So you find the center of the heel and basically start 6 sts to the right of the center so that the 13 sts will be centered on the heel. You only work these sts through the front loops because you will be working the "boot" part in the back loops. I actually left this part off of the 2nd pair I made and I liked it better.

See this post for the booties without the heel:

    Hope that helps!

  4. I had the same issues as Kayla. You answered them...but I'm still a little confused. I'm making the small booties. The pattern states that everything in parenthesis is for the larger sizes. So, R3

Rnd 3: 2 sc in next, sc in next 11 (13), (2 sc in next, sc in next) twice, (sc in next, 2 sc in next) twice, sc in next 11 (13), 2 sc in next, sc in next, sl st in first sc of rnd, ch 1, turn.

Where it says: (2sc in next, sc in next) twice...and then again...(sc in next, 2 sc in next) twice,

I shouldn't do any of this because it is for the larger size, correct?

Feel free to e-mail me so I'm sure to see your response. lhi2305@gmail.com Thanks!

  5. Yes you would still crochet those instructions. The only time you ignore the number in parenthesis is when there are numbers only eg. 11(13) or 7(9). The other instructions in parenthesis such as (2sc in next, sc in next) twice - are to define a pattern or grouping of stitches for all sizes.
